In a private correspondence to a previous owner, a friend of the Nettleship family writes 'the first thing I said on seeing the lovely little drawing of a girl's head was 'It might be Ursula' ....I remember Ursula as a little girl holding a little dead bird she had found with the tears streaming down her face and looking unbelievably beautiful. She had at that time an imaginary family and I was told by somebody who had charge of her in the household that when walking in London the child suddenly cried out the name of some of these imagined beings and dashed into the traffic to save her from being run over and by a miracle escaped that fate herself!'
