This 'flap night table' executed in 1826 was modified from a square leg pattern that the firm was producing in 1786 (Gillow Archive, ES 399) by the addition of Grecian reeded ornament applied to the legs and sweep upright to be retailed by Ferguson, Whiteside & Co. of Oxford Street, who signed the prefatory recommendation to P. & M. A. Nicholson's Practical Cabinet-Maker, 1826.
This model was manufactured for Ferguson & Co., 6 February 1826 (see: Gillow Archive, ES 3484, Westminster City Library). It is described as 'A Mahogany Elbow and Flap night table on reeded legs and casters. with mahogany upper and lower flap' - total cost 4.9.4. of which 1.3.6. was the making time paid to W. Redhead. It was fitted with a Wedgwood pan costing 1-9
