The design for this commode appears to derive from a dressing-commode by Sheraton in his Appendix, London, 1802, pl. XX and LXVI. A very similar commode, with panted decoration, possibly by the same maker, in the Victorian & Albert Museum is illustrated R. Fastnedge, Sheraton Furniture, Glasgow, 1962, pl. D, facing page 54.
