Lot Essay

Henrietta Crofts was the natural daughter of James Scot, Duke of Monmouth and Eleanor, daughter of Sir Robert Needham, and sister of Jane Myddelton, the famous beauty. She was the third wife of Charles Paulet, 2nd Duke of Bolton (1661-1722) and had one son. Lord Nassau Paulet: she became a lady of the bedchamber to the Princess of Wales in 1714, and died in 1730.
