Lot Essay

Nicholas Browne, according to the label, was reputedly a son of Lord Montague. He joined the 10th (Prince of Wales' Own) Hussars as a Cornet on 12 September 1805, became Lieutenat in the same regiment on 25 July 1806, and Captain on 3 May 1810. He moved to the 11th Foot on 6 December that year, was still a Captain but on half pay in the 69th Fott on 25 November 1816, and then became a Captain of the 41st Foot on 26 May 1825. He died of Cholera near Madras on 17 February 1827.
