The prime version of this view is at Southampton Art Gallery (see W. Constable, Richard Wilson, 1953, p.215, pl.101b). The view has been variously described as being on the Tiber, at Tivoli, or, when copied by Wright of Derby, as 'Italian Lake Sunset'. Constable (loc. cit.) lists several other versions, both recorded and untraced.
