Richard Guiness of Celbridge, Co. Kildare (1690-1746) was the agent for Dr. Arthur Price, Archbishop of Cashel. He married Elizabeth, daughter of William Read of Oughterard, Co. Kildare. Richard was the ancestor of Arthur Guinness of Beaumont, who, together with his son, Sir Benhamin Guinness (1798-1868), enlarged and established the brewing firm of Arthur Guinness & Son, developing the export market and turning it into the most productive and well-organised company at the time.
