Lot Essay
This is an example of the rare group of Iznik dishes that were made following European prototypes. Amongst the earliest examples of this group were those that had European armorials inserted into the rim design or in the centre. Another dish very similar to this was in the Adda Collection. The initials on the base are evidence that even the later examples of the type were still made principally for the export market.
