Lot Essay

INDENTAbbas II Hilmi was created Knight Grand Cross in 1892. This very rare Bath Collar however is probably the "family collar" first bestowed upon Ismail Pasha, who was created Knight Grand Cross in 1866 and was invested with the insignia by Lord Clarence Paget during a visit to Cairo in 1867. The collar was probably also used by Ismail's son, Mohammed Tewfik, created Knight Grand Cross in 1887.
