The salt print is a portrait of Lady Lichfield as Mary Queen of Scots. Other portraits by Fenton including the same studio rug were sold at Christie's South Kensington, Oct. 30, 1980, lot 380 and Oct. 27, 1983. The rug also appears in the Fenton tableau Hush, Lightly Tread published as a photogalvanograph in 1857.
