A VERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THE WORK OF ONE OF THE GREATEST FRENCH BINDERS. Padeloup bound a number of copies of this work: in mottled calf and red, green or yellow morocco. The corner ovals were tooled with arms of the intended recipients. The work is a record of the fetes given by the city of Strassbourg to celebrate the visit of Louis XV, and also his recovery from a dangerous illness contracted at Metz in 1744. Cohen/de Ricci 870; Berlin Kat. 3015; Cf. Gruel Manuel... de l'Amateur de relieurs. vol.I plate facing p.140 (identical but for the corner arms). (2)
