FIRST EDITION. This score is printed from manuscript, without the title page, and was never issued for sale. The date of the first edition of the full score is somewhat confused, although a private edition (of which only one copy is known) was issued in 1874 to coincide with the first performance and a vocal score was issued at the same time. However, the actual date of this first edition must be after Oscar Cranz established the firm at Leipzig in 1897. Fuld p.207.
