Autograph letter signed to Bernhard Schnappauf, London, 18 May 1877, informing Schnappauf that he should shortly receive a small parcel with some silk textiles and asking him to clear it at customs and pass it on together with a short letter, purple ink, 1 page, 12mo (185 x 110mm.), with autograph envelope (repairs to the folds).
This letter is written from London, which Wagner visited from 7 to 29 May 1877 for a series of concerts at the Albert Hall, which he and Richter conducted in an attempt to raise money against the huge deficit from the first festival at Bayreuth the previous year. Schnappauf was Wagner's personal physician and an intimate of the Wagner household.
