A FINE ARCHAIC BRONZE TRIPOD LIBATION WINE VESSEL, JUE

The body supported on blade-like legs and cast with a band of taotie divided by ridged vertical flanges below cicada wing motifs around the neck, all on a leiwen ground, an ox-head loop handle at one side concealing an impressed pictogram, the vertical posts with conical terminals with whorl patterns, the pale olive patina with some encrustation, one leg restored

Lot Essay

The sword pictogram reads fu, 'father'.
