Enamelled on the exterior with a band of five iron-red carp above underglaze-blue outlined green and black cresting waves, the interior painted with a central panel enclosing a single stylized lotus-spray within double-line borders repeated at the rim and foot, crack

Cf. the similar dish in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, included in the Special Exhibition of Hsüan Tê Porcelain, 1980, Catalogue no.137; another in the Percival David Foundation, Catalogue, section 5, no.A768, is discussed by S. Jenyns, Ming Pottery and Porcelain, p.72 where the author suggests that the Xuande mark is written in a Hongzhi or Zhengde hand.
A very similar dish from the Edward T. Chow Collection was sold in Hong Kong 25 November 1980, lot 27
