With steep slightly curving sides and everted rim, painted at the centre of the interior with a carnation spray below upright lotus, gardenia, peony, hibiscus and chrysanthemum in the well, the rim with a band of stylised foliage, the exterior with similar flower-sprays between bands of key-pattern at the rim and classic-scrolls on the short foot, restored

Cf. the bowl of similar form, design and size but with additional enamels in the Baur Collection illustrated by J. Ayers, Catalogue vol.IV, no.A584, where the author states that there is a similar bowl in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, and a smaller example in the Musée Guimet, Paris; a similar yellow-ground bowl is in the W. G. Gulland Gift, 260-1905 at the Victoria and Albert Museum
