From surviving pieces it is evident that the 6th Earl of Mountrath was one of de Lamerie's most important clients. A magnificent ewer and sideboard dish of 1742 and a pair of salvers of 1741 are in the Gilbert Collection, and are illustrated in T. Schroder, The Gilbert Collection of Gold and Silver, no. 65 and no. 66. However, as Algernon died in 1746 these waiters were probably made for Charles Henry, 7th Earl of Mountrath, using funds from his inheritance.
A pair of waiters of similar form, by de Lamerie of 1736 are also in the Gilbert collection.
