The beast cast standing four-square with raised head, short horns, prominent eyes and long flat tail, decorated with stylised archaistic motifs and whorls inlaid in silver sheet and gold wire, the hinged cover surmounted by a stylised bird finial, original patch on hindquarters, some inlay missing
