The swordsmith is Tadayoshi V, working circa 1751, died 1775; the silver men on the kabuto-gane depicts the leaf of the katabami or wood sorrel, oxalis corniculata. A photostat copy of a letter written by Lt.Col.Iwane Tojima describes the sword's former owner, Major Sunakawa, of the Japanese 25th Army, on the occasion of the sword's presentation to the late Major H.I.Holker at Medan, Sumatra, in June 1946.
