A RARE ANNAMESE BLUE AND WHITE JAR AND COVER
15th/16th century
Painted around the body with pheonix in flight, one holding lingzhi in its beak, all amidst scrolling peony-sprays, above a band of scrolls and tall floral lappets around the foot, the base glazed, the shoulder with a band of overlapping lotus petals below a key-fret band at the neck, the cover similarly decorated, surmounted by a knop finial embellished with a flower-head, all under a slightly crackled glaze, the glaze of the cover somewhat matt, small cover rim and rim chips
