The marquetry decoration is characteristic of that often found on the works of Pierre Roussel, marchand-ébéniste, and may have been subcontracted to Charles Topino, maître in 1773, ébéniste and one of the principal makers of marquetry in Paris in the last quarter of the 18th Century
