The miniature follows the traditional iconography of the traditio legis, following the Gospel of St. Matthew, when Christ says 'Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church'. Presumably the initial marks the antiphon 'Ecce ego mitto vobis' from the feast of the Division of the Apostles.
