Copied by the great classicist from the heirs of Filippo Giunta's editio princeps (Florence, April 1526), shortly before his election as student of Christ Church. In 1810 Gaisford's own edition of Hephaestion was published, which together with his work on Euripides earned him the regius professorship of Greek at Oxford (1812)
