The milestone-shaped case with skirted base on block feet, later recessed panel to the plinth, glazed trunk door set with carved wood foliage beneath the 12½ in. circular silvered regulator dial with blued moon hands and signed G. Davison Fecit, Newcastle a.d. 1860, the substantial movement with tapered plates and four pillars screwed from the frontplate and rivetted to the back, unusual Vulliamy-type deadbeat escapement with jewelled pallets, the wheels of five/six and seven crossings, maintaining power, mercury jar pendulum with fine adjustment to the crutchpiece
