The convex-moulded case on bun feet, boxwood inlay to the sides and bordering the bird-and-flower marquetry to the plinth panel and to the shaped quadrant panels on the rectangular trunk door with oval lenticle, similar marquetry to the flat-top rising hood with spiral angle columns, later 10in. sq. dial with tulip engraved centre, silvered chapter ring and winged cherub spandrels, latches to the six ringed pillars with tapered arbors and substantial pinions, outside countwheel strike, anchor escapement and bolt-and-shutter maintaining power; case and movement circa 1685
