The case of rectangular form having a recessed chamfered top with foliate-cast handle and bevel-glazed viewing aperture, glazed sides and front, sliding rear glass with unusual spring catch in the base, the movement with four pillars secured with blued screws at the frontplate and rivetted to the backplate, single chain fusee with maintaining power, large gilt platform for the escapement with diamond endstone to Dent's patent staple balance with blued helical hairspring and Earnshaw escapement with spring foot detent and jewelled locking stone, hand-set button to the similarly signed backplate with securing brackets to the case; original black leather and blue velvet-lined travelling box
