The duc de Penthièvre, Louis XVI's grandson and King Louis-Philippe's grandfather, owned the duché de Chateauvillain, one of his twenty estates. Chateauvillain, situated in Haute-Marne close to Chaumont, was demolished during the 19th Century. However, in March 1794 the furniture at Chateauvillain was valued at 100.000 francs
