The attribution has been confirmed by Dr. Jean-Luc Bordeaux, who suggests a date in the 1720s, probably nearer to the 'Perseus and Andromeda' of 1723 in the Wallace Collection (J.-L. Bordeaux, François Le Moyne and his Generation, 1984, p.90, no.44, and fig.39) than to the 'Venus and the Graces showing Cupid the Power of his Arrows' of 1729 in the Musée Rodin
