Charles Grey (1764-1845), was the eldest surviving son of General Sir Charles Grey, K.B. and Elizabeth, daughter of George Grey. In 1786 he was returned member for Northumberland which he continued to represent until 1807. On the death of his father on 16th November, 1807, he succeeded the title as second Earl Grey. He married Mary Elizabeth, daughter of William Brabazon Ponsonby in 1794 and they had fifteen children
