The crest and arms are those of Stirling, of Faskine, Co. Lamask, with Goodenough in pretence, for Sir Walter Stirling, born 1758. He married, in 1794, Susannah, daughter and sole heiress of George-T. Goodenough of Bordwood, Isle of Wight. Sir Walter was created a baronet in 1800, was M.P. for Gatton and subsequently, St. Ives, served as high-sheriff for Kent and died in 1832.
