Cornelis Raaphorst was born in Nieuwkoop although he lived and worked in the town of Wassenaar (Holland). He painted mainly cats, especially kittens playing. One can see a close proximity in style to that of Henriette Ronner in his work, however, it is an influence that underlies rather than overpowers his paintings.
