The attribution was suggested by Mr. K.G. Boon on the basis of a comparison with a drawing in the Rijksmuseum which he attributed to an artist in the circle of Jakob von Seckau. This drawing formed part of the celebrated album of studies by Veronese and other artists which was dismembered after its sale in 1954. The album, with a set of photographs, is in the Lugt Collection
