The area around Amersham in Buckinghamshire was one of the artist's favourite places to paint. In 1891 when Helen Allingham and Kate Greenaway visited the district on a painting expedition they begged a lift from a baker's cart which, Helen commented 'gave us a capital view of the country over the high hedges'
