The above is one of a series of late 19th Century pendants in the 16th Century style which feature biblical subjects. The detailed compositions are mostly depicted in brightly enamelled colours with applied jewelled collets. Designs for pendants of a similar size featuring religious scenes do exist amongst the Vasters drawings (E2847-1919 David and Goliath pendant illustrated Princely Magnificence H18 and D. Scarisbrick, Jewellry Ancient to Modern, (New York 1979) no.517, but the present example is not among them
