Jacques Jaquet (1828-99) was the younger brother and close collaborator of Jean-Joseph Jaquet (1822-98). Like his brother he perfected his art under Guillaume Geefs and specialised in mythological and historical subjects. As in the present fine bronze, the work of Jaquet is characterised by a successful compositional structure and high finish.
