It is known from a qalamdan sold in these rooms (9th October 1990, lot 99) that the eighteenth century artist, Sadiq, had painted this scene. That qalamdan was signed by Lutf 'Ali Ashraf, stating that he was copying Sadiq's design. It is thus debateable whether the 'Sadiq' inscribed on the top here is a homage to the earlier great artist, or the signature of a later artist of the same name
