The inscription on the ewer has been translated: 'by the hand of Sargis Vardapet, usher (nvirak, one who gathers church offerings) of Jerusalem, in memory of the pilgrim Anrut'in, satin maker, in AH1256 (1840-1 AD). That on the ewer has been partially read 'In memory of... ...the see of Saint James at Jerusalem... ...Paul (Phogos)... ...Arm1254' (1804 AD)
