INDENTLieutenant Edward M. Noble passed his examination 1831; as Mate of H.M.S. Samarang, his services were officially reported by Captain J. Scott, R.N. to the Commander-in-Chief for the gallantry and zeal he displayed during the successful boat attack through the Macao passage on the Chinese fort in the Canton approach, 12th. March, 1841 (London Gazette 11th. June, 1841); promoted Lieutenant for his service on the coast of China, June 1841 (See lots 114 and 117 for other family medals)
