Mr. Fred Meijer has informed us that the present picture is one of several versions of a composition which bear a van Huysum signature, the best of which is probably that in the Museum der Bildenden Künste, Leipzig, no. 1579. A further variant was offered at Sotheby's, 16 April 1980, lot 53.
