FIRST EDITION, folio (535 x 360mm.), title with uncoloured aquatint vignette, text in English and French, and 30 fine hand-coloured aquatint plates each mounted on card with a printed slip on verso giving plate title, imprint, artist, engraver and colourist (lacking 2 leaves, preface and text to plate 5; foremargins of a few text leaves soiled; card mount of plate 6 spotted; printed slip on verso of plate 10 corrected in manuscript), unstitched in original card folder with green roan spine, printed paper label on upper cover
RARE SET OF THE 5 PARTS IN THE ORIGINAL STATE, although without the buff wrappers to the individual parts. Dodwell was responsible for 24 of the plates, the other artists are S. Pomardi and P. Dewint. The engravers, who also coloured the plates, except in the case of the plates coloured by W.H. Tims, include F.C. Lewis, T. Fielding, R. Havell and others. Abbey Travel 130 states "The plates which are engraved and coloured by Havell are outstanding". Tooley 182; Colas 876
