FIRST EDITION, 3 vols., large folio (562 x 310mm.), 48 hand-coloured lithographed plates after J. Black, W. Richardson, R.K. Greville and J. Wallace, one leaf with 3 maps, 4 mounted albumen prints of cedars and numerous wood-engraved illustrations in the text, (occasional spotting), green half morocco gilt, t.e.g., by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, original printed wrappers to parts I, VIII & XXXVI and cloth labels bound at the end of each vol. (one wrapper defective and repaired)

FINE, ORIGINAL SUBSCRIBER'S COPY. There is a printed label pasted on two of the upper wrappers to the original parts stating 'Subscriber's copy, Henry G. Bohn, Esq., Twickenham'. Besides his eminence in the world of publishing and bookselling, at his residential property at Twickenham, H.G. Bohn had a fine garden with a rare and valuable collection of shrubs and roses. (3)
