The published Naval General Service Medal rolls confirm James Prio as an Able Seaman aboard the Gloire for the operations leading to the capture of Guadaloupe on 5.2.1810.
James Prio, a native of Suffolk, entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 3rd Class aboard the Glomen in April 1809, aged 18 years. Just over three months later he removed to the Gloire, participated in the Guadaloupe operations of the following year and was discharged to the Namur in June 1812 (Various P.R.O. ADM sources refer).
