Lot Essay

Major William Anthony Taaffe first entered the French Theatre of War with the Connaught Rangers in April 1915, but would appear to have gained attachment to the W.A.F.F. before the end of hostilities. Recalled to the Colours as a Major from the Reserve of Officers on the renewal of hostilities, he was onetime a Staff Officer for Air Defence in Scottish Command and afterwards served in the Cheshire Regiment.
