Lot Essay

Lieutenant Frank Balfour was born in July 1893, the son of a member of the British Community in the Argentine. Educated at the Edinburgh Academy, he was commissioned into the 1/5th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1914 and served in France between 1915-16. Balfour is believed to have been invalided from the Service in 1918.
