Lot Essay

Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Victor Bremer Kuper was a long served Gunner by the time he set forth for the Western Front to qualify for his 1914-15 Trio and ultimately a Silver War Badge in February 1919 (P.R.O. MIC entry refers). He had first seen action as a Subaltern in the Second Afghan War, when he served in 8/11 R.A., as part of the Siege Train of the Kandahar Field Force. During the Boer War he was employed on the Staff as a Remount Officer towards the end of hostilities.
