Captain I.B.D. Dewar was killed in action at Dargai Sar in Waziristan on 14.4.1937, when leading a party of his men against some 500 Mahsuds of the Fakir of Ipi. Previously the Adjutant of the 17th Dogras, he was attached to the South Waziristan (and Tochi) Scouts at the time of his death. Had he lived, there seems little doubt that the award of a Decoration would have been the 'Order of the Day'.
