Sold with an old and attractive 'H.M.S. Ajax' display frame, with central picture of the famous Cruiser 'Encountering heavy weather in the Mediterranean, April 1941', and the card mount with section of an Ajax cap tally.

In addition to a Battle Honour for her participation in the Battle of the River Plate, the Ajax amassed eight other Honours for the 1939-45 War, the majority of them in respect of her distinguished 'fighting career' in the Mediterranean between 1940-41. Among her victims were the Italian Destroyers Ariel and Airone, both sunk east of Malta in late 1940.
