COMPARATIVE LITERATURE
Ibrahim Pascha, ruler of Egypt, placed an order for a large sixteen feet high pair of candelabra from Oslers, one of which was displayed in their London showrooms on completion and attracted a great deal of attention at the time. Martin Mortimer states in his chapter on Osler glass that 'as a direct result of this order that Osler provided the famous 'Crystal Fountain' which formed the centrepiece of the Crystal Palace Exhibition in 1851'. -- Martin Mortimer The English Glass Chandelier, Woodbridge, 2000
In 1848 Prince Albert bought a pair of Osler candelabra nine feet high for Queen Victoria at 'An Exhibition of Industrial Arts and Manufacturers' held at Bingley House, Broad Street, Birmingham. These were later removed to Osborne House, Isle of Wight. -- John P.Smith Breaking Tradition, Mallet, 1999.
