Lot Essay

The design of this table derives from mid-18th Century tea-tables such as those at Harewood House and Osterley Park. A Chinese table with very similarly shaped frieze was sold at Christie's, New York, 2 February 1991, lot 186. A related George III side table was sold at Sotheby's, London, 6 May 1988, lot 96.
