A MEISSEN ARMORIAL CHINOISERIE TEABOWL AND SAUCER from the Clemens August service, painted by C.F. Herold, the teabowl with the crowned Arms supported by two rampant lions on a puce scroll support and an Oriental holding a scroll with the gilt monogram CA and a boy beside a table on a terrace above gilt ombrierte and purple lustre foliate scrolls and diaper panels enclosing an Oriental landscape painted in purpurmalerei, the interior with indianische Blumen, the saucer with an elegant Oriental couple among shrubs holding a garland and pointing towards a marble tablet with the CA monogram, above a similar gilt ombrierte and purple lustre support, the quatrefoil panel with Oriental merchants at discussion on a quay, the underside with three indianische Blumen sprays, the rims with interlocking gilt scrolls (very minor rubbing to saucer), blue crossed swords marks, Dreher's H to teabowl and a star to saucer, circa 1735
